Guided Surgery: New Frontiers In Implant Dentistry

In order to successfully rehabilitate patients with dental implants, surgical placements of implants at a correct prosthetic position is warranted. The use of computer guided surgery solutions, which use CT guided stents, fabricated with the help of CT data and patient’s intra oral impressions or study models allow Dentists to place implants more accurately, without compromising on the prosthetically ideal position. The talk highlights the steps involved in planning and execution of computer guided implant surgery, with clinical case presentations from single tooth to full arch cases.

Pulp Revascularizationeducing From A Myth To Reality

Abstract

Endodontic treatment of immature nonvital tooth with apical pathosis presents several challenges. Treatment options included were apical surgery, retrograde sealing, induced apical closure. The current concept of revascularization of dental pulp has been developed to preserve the potentially remaining dental pulp stem cells and mesenchymal cells of apical papilla. This procedure initiates revascularization in a nonvital tooth allowing repair and regeneration of tissues. The biggest advantage of this procedure is continued root development with reinforcement of lateral dentinal walls. This presentation explores the knowledge in regenerative Endodontics and its future potential as a routine dental procedure.

Joint Vibration Analysis; A Functonal Tool In Diagnosis Of Temporomandibular Disorders

Abstract

TMD is a collective term for the muscular, skeletalintracapsular or extracapsular disorders of the TMDS. Diagnosis of TMDS requires apart from clinical examination radiological investigations like Tomograms, CT, CBCT for skeletal assesment and expensive imaging like MRI for soft tissue evaluation particularly disc displacements of TMJ – and all of these are not dynamic. TMJ sounds have especially been studied because of their possible relation with interfering with mechanical (internal derangement) or a focal degenerative disorder (degenerative joint disease (DJD/osteo arthrosis) of the TMJ.JVA measures joint vibrations through EVG which is more reliable than sound analysis and can serve as a non invasive method for screening TMDS in particular with internal derangement of TMDS which is dynamic, simple, inexpensive when compared to MRI with sensitivity and specificity of 90% in disc displacement with reduction.
This topic covers the detailed diagnosis of TMDs with emphasis on JVA.

Recent Trends And Concepts In Endodontics: Myths, Magnification And Minimally Invasive Endodontics

Abstract

Over the past decade Endodontics has evolved in a significant manner. A lot of changes have evolved related to Diagnostic methods, Isolation, Biomechanical preparation, Irrigation protocols and newer Obturation techniques. The importance of magnification has been the limelight of majority of the discussions. This lecture will focus on MINIMALLY INVASIVE ENDODONTICS referring to the recent trend in Orifice Directed Access rather than a straight line access and also the Taper used in Biomechanical preparation of root canals. The lecture will also focus on the importance of Peri Cervical dentin preservation for the longevity and good long term prognosis of the tooth.

Make Your First Impression... Your Best Impression!!! (Half Day)

We all have been making impressions for years but are we doing this simple step the way it is supposed to be done. How often do we struggle with prosthesis that fit the cast but don’t seat correctly on the prepared tooth? How often are we/patient troubled by crowns feeling high, porcelain fracturing, de-cementing and post cementation sensitivity? One of the primary reasons for these is a faulty impression. This session is aimed at answering the most basic daily questions of impression making that we have all had for years with probably no answers.
