Clinical Management of Early Childhood Caries

Abstract

A Contemporary Dental Practice should aim at applying the principles of evidence-based dentistry to achieve excellence in preventive and treatment outcomes. The understanding of dental caries has witnessed revolutionary changes in the recent past. This has influenced the prevention and management of early childhood caries significantly. Current knowledge of carious tissue removal when applied to clinical practice can be of immense benefit to our pediatric patients. These minimally invasive techniques greatly reduce the need for aggressive stress inducing clinical procedures. Approaching the management of early childhood caries in this new way can transform the pediatric dental experience for both the little children we treat and for us.

Occlusion Unravelled: Simplifying The Bytes Of Human Bite

Abstract

It is important that practicing Dentists have a holistic understanding of dental occlusion. Occlusion is confusing and it is perhaps difficult for dental practioners to find a philosophy, which is in line with contemporary good practice and is supported by evidence from practice-based research. The aim of this lecture is to explore the role of occlusion and highlight the benefit of using the face bow and semi-adjustable articulators in your daily practice in order to achieve an aesthetically and functionally stable occlusion.

Challenges in Apex Locator

About

Since root canal treatment is a blind procedure, we need to know exact working length of a root canal. If we fail to measure Working Length (WL), it leads to postoperative pain or failure of RCT. Since radiographs are two dimensional picture; it fails to show lateral opening of a canal. We need 3D picture of a canal. This lecture will give you clinical tips to get reliable WL with the help of electronic apex locator.

Pulp Revascularizationeducing From A Myth To Reality

Abstract

Endodontic treatment of immature nonvital tooth with apical pathosis presents several challenges. Treatment options included were apical surgery, retrograde sealing, induced apical closure. The current concept of revascularization of dental pulp has been developed to preserve the potentially remaining dental pulp stem cells and mesenchymal cells of apical papilla. This procedure initiates revascularization in a nonvital tooth allowing repair and regeneration of tissues. The biggest advantage of this procedure is continued root development with reinforcement of lateral dentinal walls. This presentation explores the knowledge in regenerative Endodontics and its future potential as a routine dental procedure.

Joint Vibration Analysis; A Functonal Tool In Diagnosis Of Temporomandibular Disorders

Abstract

TMD is a collective term for the muscular, skeletalintracapsular or extracapsular disorders of the TMDS. Diagnosis of TMDS requires apart from clinical examination radiological investigations like Tomograms, CT, CBCT for skeletal assesment and expensive imaging like MRI for soft tissue evaluation particularly disc displacements of TMJ – and all of these are not dynamic. TMJ sounds have especially been studied because of their possible relation with interfering with mechanical (internal derangement) or a focal degenerative disorder (degenerative joint disease (DJD/osteo arthrosis) of the TMJ.JVA measures joint vibrations through EVG which is more reliable than sound analysis and can serve as a non invasive method for screening TMDS in particular with internal derangement of TMDS which is dynamic, simple, inexpensive when compared to MRI with sensitivity and specificity of 90% in disc displacement with reduction.
This topic covers the detailed diagnosis of TMDs with emphasis on JVA.

DECODE the world of Minimally Invasive Aesthetic Bioactive Restorations - Direct and Indirect

    Dr. Ajit Shetty

    Dr. Sanghmitra Dasgupta

    1. ACP Whitening
It builds apatite while it whitens - a better choice
for patients. It offers a wide range of products and appointments with scale of economies that
can be set in a clinic to attain a new profit centre of proactive care and restoration of natural
    enamel.
It showcases in detail – light assisted whitening with Zoom light, non light assisted whitening
with the world's first whitening varnish and Tray assisted whitening maintenance. It will also introduce Sonicare healthy white brush as a
    pre-requisite to all whitening appointments.

    2. Bioactive Direct And Indirect Restorations
The lecture and demonstration would help understand variables that play a part
in expected marginal disintegration and microleakage VS addressing these variables to obtain complete/substantial marginal integration
    – with bioactive restoratives and their manifold benefits. We understand with clarity how Bioactive restorative, Activa is a one of a kind
material. It works in 3 important steps
    A. Replenish with Minerals (build apatite)
    b. Replace with materials that bio-mimic function (ionic integration with the tooth – enamel and dentin – no visible margins)
    c. Realign to maintain oral biosphere activity (continued interaction with saliva and flow of ions through the restorative and natural interfaces)
Variables to watch out for Direct and Indirect restorations will be addressed with ways and means to beat the odds with Activa.
Use of Bioactive cements that are universal and bond with a variety of materials will be discussed in detail.

Points That Will Be Covered In This Program
    1. Clarity on being able to differentiate between restorative materials and Bioactive restorative materials.
    2. Ease of application in a real case with clear understanding of the process of use.
    3. Discussion of case preferences for this material.
    4. Advantages to the case, the dentist and the patient.
    5. Objective case economics including material cost vs case cost that will aid in practice management.

    3. Proactive After Care
Introduction of Sonicare and Airfloss dispensed via the clinic to improve the treatment outcomes and aid in
longer life of restorations with maintaining optimal oral health.

Endodontics Simplified: Learn To Love Endo

    Dr. Harsh Unadkat

Endodontics has evolved widely over the past decade. Lot has been rightly discussed about the edge of using magnification and newer rotary instruments heading the market. The use of heat treated NiTi rotary instruments and also newer disinfection and obturation techniques and equipments has been the limelight of CDE programmes. The major fear amongst general practitioners related to endodontic has been related to fracture of endodontic instruments in the canal and the economics involved in practicing modern endodontics. Should one invest in expensive devices and magnification. This session will focus on practicing modern endodontics, understanding the concept of physical and chemical root canal disinfection and deliver predictable long term prognosis to the tooth.

    Hands On
Each participant will be doing exercise on extracted teeth using the VTaper 2H rotary file system from SSWhite. Also understand the concept of hybrid technique in doing biomechanical preparation and the importance of an orifice directed access in modern endodontics.
